DEPRESSION:

If  God is for us, who can be against us?    Romans 8:31 NIV

We are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well; for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us, because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.    Romans 5:5 TLB

FEAR:

 

Do not fear, for I am with you, do not be afraid, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.    Isaiah 41:10 NRSV

The Lord who created you says, "Do not be afraid--I will save you.  I have called you by name--you are mine.

When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you, your troubles will not overwhelm you."    Isaiah 43: 1, 2

God is our refuge and our strength, a very present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear though the earth should change,  though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea.    Psalm 46: 1-2

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.    2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV

His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:7

FORGIVENESS:

 

Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ.    Ephesians 4:32 TLB

Be gentle and ready to forgive; never hold grudges.  Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.  Colossians 3:13 TLB

When you stand praying, if you have a grievance against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in haven may forgive you the wrongs you have done.     Mark 11:25 NEB

If you forgive other people their failures, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.  But if you will not forgive other people, neither will your Father forgive you your failures.    Matthew 6:14-15 Phillips

 

GOOD VS. EVIL:

 

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, not stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight  is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.     Psalm 1:1-2

Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.    Psalms 34:14 NIV

He who seeks good finds goodwill, but evil comes to him who searches for it.    Proverbs 11:27 NIV

If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house.    Proverbs 17:13 NIV

Do not those who plot evil go astray?  But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.    Proverbs 14:22  NIV

He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.    Proverbs 28:10 NIV

For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.    Ecclesiastes 12:14 NIV

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.    Isaiah 5:20 NIV

Seek good, not evil, that you may live.  Then the Lord God Almighty will be with you, just as you say he is.  Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts.  Perhaps the Lord God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.  Amos 5:14-15 NIV

The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him.    Matthew 12:35 NIV

 

GOODNESS:

 

Good and upright is the Lord.    Psalm 25:8 NASB

God is good, and he loves goodness; the godly shall see his face.    Psalm 11:7 TLB

You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.   Psalm 86:5 NRSV

The Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations.    Psalm 100:5

The Lord said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence."    Exodus 33:19 NIV

You should try to become like God, for you are his children and he loves you.  Live your lives in love--the same sort of love which Christ gave us and which he perfectly expressed when he gave himself up for us as an offering and a sacrifice well-pleasing to God.    Ephesians 5:1-2 Phillips

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.  Galatians 6:9-10 NIV

Let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God...Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.    1 John 4:7, 11 NIV

 

GUIDANCE:

 

Isa 50:4  The Lord God has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him that is weary.  Morning by morning he wakens, he wakens my ear to hear as those who are taught.

If you want to know what God wants you to do, ask him, and he will gladly tell you, for he is always ready to give a bountiful supply of wisdom to all who ask him.    James 1:5 TLB

The Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will  remind you  of everything I have said to you.    John 14:26 NIV

Love the Lord and follow his plan for your lives.  Cling to him and serve him enthusiastically. Joshua 22:5 TLB

You will keep on guiding me all my life with your wisdom and counsel, and afterwards receive me into the glories of heaven!    Psalm 73:24 TLB

He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.    Psalm 25:9 NIV

Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think.  Then you will learn from your own experience how his ways will really satisfy you.  Romans 12:2 TLB

Never criticize or condemn--or it will all come back on you.  Go easy on others; then they will do the same for you.  Luke 6:37 TLB

If anyone can control his tongue, it proves that he has perfect control over himself in every other way...the tongue is a small thing, but what enormous damage it can do.  James 3:2 & 5 TLB

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure and full of quiet gentleness...it is peace-loving and courteous...  James 3:17 TLB

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us:  love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.   Galatians 5:22-23 TLB

We Christians have no veil over our faces; we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord.  And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him.  2 Corinthians 3:18 TLB

Remember what Christ taught and let his words enrich your lives and make you wise; teach them to each other and sing them out in psalms and hymns.  Colossians 3:16 TLB

Be imitators of God...as dearly loved children and live a life of love...as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.  Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV

Commit everything you do to the Lord.  Trust him to help yo do it and he will.  Psalm 37:5 TLB

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up.  Ephesians 4:29 NIV

Don't let others spoil your faith and joy with their philisophies, their wong and shallow answers build on men's thoughts and ideas, instead of on what Christ has said.  Colossians 2:8 TLB

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Galatians 6:9 NIV

Create in me a new, clean heart, O God, filled with clean thoughts and right desires.  Psalm 51:10 TLB

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.  Psalm 90:12 NIV

Be beautiful inside, in your hearts, with the lasting charm of a gentle and guiet spirit which is so precious to God.  1 Peter 3:4 TLB

For being saved is a gift; if a person could earn it by being good, then it wouldn't be free--but it is...God declares sinners to be good in his sight if they have faith in Christ...  Romans 4:4-5 TLB

God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God's many kinds of blessings.  1 Peter 4:10 TLB

But the Lord said..."I don't make decisions the way you do!  Men judge by outward appearance, but I look at a man's thoughts and intentions."  1 Samuel 16:7 TLB

Now change your mind and attitude to God and turn to him...  Acts 3:19 TLB

 

 

INSPIRATIONAL:

 

We Christians...can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord.  And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him.    2 Corinthians 3:18 TLB

And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.  Romans 8:28 TLB

May God who gives patience, steadiness, and encouragement help you to live in complete harmony with each other--each with the attitude of Christ toward the other.  And then all of us can praise the Lord together with one voice.    Romans 15:5-6 TLB                                                                                      

You are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill cannot be hid.  Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.    Matthew 5:14-15 RSV

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.    Matthew 5:16 RSV

The righteous call to the Lord, and he listens; he rescues them from all their troubles.    Psalm 34:17 TEV

Ask, and it will be given you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.    Matthew 7:7 RSV

Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.  And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:6-7 TEV

Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.  1 Peter 5:7 TLB

I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind.  Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world.  John 16:33 TLB

And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.  Micah 6:8 NIV

LOVE:

 

I don't want your sacrifices--I want your love; I don't want your offerings--I want you to know me.  Hosea 6:6 TLB

You are precious in my sight, and honored, and I love you.    Isaiah 43:4 NRSV

God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.    John 3:16 RSV

God has shown us how much he loves us; it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us!    Romans 5:8 TEV

This is what love is:  it is not that we have loved God, but that  he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven.    1 John 44:42  TEV

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God...since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.  1 John 4:7 & 11 NIV

We know how much God loves us because we have felt his love and because we believe him when he tells us that he loves us dearly.  God is love and anyone who lives in love is living with God and God is living in him.    1 John 4:16 TLB

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is they faithfulness.  Lamentations 3:22-23 RSV

You have real love for everyone because your souls have been cleansed from selfishness and hatred when you trusted Christ to save you, so see to it that you really do love each other warmly, with all your hearts.  1 Peter 1:22 TLB

Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy...It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs...Love never fails... 1 Cor. 13:4-5 & 8 NIV

Love...always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.  1 Cor. 13:6-7 NIV

My prayer for you is that you will overflow more and more with love for others, and at the same time keep on growing in spiritual knowledge and insight.  Phillippians 1:9 TLB

 

PURPOSE AND FULFILLMENT:

 

Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him.  See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught.  Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done.    Colossians 2:7 TLB

May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.  II Thessalonians 2:16-17

Commit everything you do to the Lord.  Trust him to help you do it and he will.    Psalm 37:5 TLB

For it is God who is at work within you, giving you the will and the power to achieve his purpose.    Philippians 2:13 Phillips

Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.   Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV

We must never get tired of doing good because if we don’t give up the struggle, we shall get our harvest at the proper time.    Galatians 6:9 JB

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.    Colossians 3:17 NIV

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone.  The Lord is near.   Philippians 4:4-5 NRSV

 

STRESS:

 

I am leaving you with a gift--peace of mind and heart!  And the peace I give isn't fragile like the peace the world gives, so don't be troubled or afraid.    John 14:27 TLB

I have told you all this so you may find peace in me.  In the world you will have trouble, but be brave, I have conquered the world.    John 16:33 JB

Do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.  For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.     Luke 12:22-23 NRSV

Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.    Psalm 119:165 NIV

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds

in Christ Jesus.    Philippians 4:6-7 NIV

Anixous hearts are very heavy, but a word of encouragement does wonders!  Proverbs 12:23 TLB

What a glorious Lord!  He who daily bears our burdens also gives us our salvation.  Psalm 68:19 TLB

As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you.    Isaiah 66:13 NIV

Dear friends, don't be bewildered or surprised when you go through the fiery trials ahead, for this is no strange, unusual thing that this is going to happen to you.  Instead, be really glad--because these trials will make you partners with Christ in his wonderful joy of sharing his glory in that coming day when it will be displayed.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the trusting of your faith develops perseverance.    James 1:2-3 NIV

Don't let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold, but let God re-make you so that your whole attitude of mind is changed.    Romans 12:1 Phillips

Blessed is the man who endures temptation, for when he has been proved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him.    James 1:12 NKJV

TROUBLE AND SORROW:

 

Call upon me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor me.    Psalm 50:15 NASB

When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace; you alone O Lord keep me perfectly safe.    Psalm 4:8 TEV

In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart!  I have overcome the world.    John 16:33 NIV

Jehovah himself is caring for you!  He is your defender.  He protects you day and night.  He keeps you from all evil, and preserves your life.  He keeps his eye upon you as you come and go, and always guards you.    Psalm 121-5-8

He does not ignore the prayers of men in trouble when they call to him for help.    Psalm 9:12

The Lord saves righteous men and protects them in times of trouble.  He helps them and rescues them.    Psalm 37:39-40 TEV

When I am surrounded by troubles, you keep me safe.  You oppose my angry enemies and save me by your power.   Psalm 138:7 TEV

What a wonderful God we have...who so wonderfully comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials.  And why does he do this?  So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement, we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us.  2 Cor. 1:3-4 TLB

His life is the light that shines through the darkness...  John 1:5 TLB

 

TRUST:

 

But I have trust in your unfailing love.    Psalm 13:5 NIV

The Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.    Psalm 100:5 NIV

If you want favor with both God and man, and a reputation for good judgment and common sense, then trust the Lord completely; don't ever trust yourself.  Proverbs 3:4-5 TLB

In God, whose word I praise, in God I have put my trust.  I shall not be afraid.    Psalm 56:4 NASB

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.  Psalm 9:10 NIV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  Proverbs 3:5 NIV

Trust in the name of the Lord.    Isaiah 50:5 NIV

Trust the Lord and sincerely worship him; think of all the tremendous things he has done for you.  1 Samuel 12:24 TLB

He who did not shield His own Son, but gave Him up for us all--can we not trust such a God to give us, with Him, everything else that we can need?  Romans 8:32 Phillips

This Good News tells us that God makes us ready for heaven...when we put our faith and trust in Christ to save us.  This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. Romans 1:17 TLB

 

TRUTH:

 

Know and believe me and understand that I am he.  Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.  

Isaiah 43:10 NRSV

Jesus replied, "I am the way; I am the truth, and I am life; no one comes to the Father except by me.    John 14:6 NEB

Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."    John 8:31-32 NIV

You desire truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.    Psalm 51:6 NRSV

Do not let your hearts be troubled, believe in God, believe also in me.    John 14:1 NRSV

I will led the blind by ways they have not known along unfamiliar paths I will guide them.  I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.  These are the things I will do.  I will not forsake them.   Isaiah 42:16 NIV

It is he who reveals the profound and hidden things.  He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.    Daniel 2:22 NASB

Finally brothers, fill your minds with everything that is true, everything that is noble, everything that is good and pure, everything that we love and honor, and everything that can be thought virtuous or worthy of praise.  Philippians 4:8 JB

He opened their minds so they could understand the scriptures.    Luke 24:45 NIV

When the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth.    John 16:13 JB

He has enriched your whole life.  He has helped you speak out for him and has given you a full understanding of the truth.    1 Corinthians 1:5 TLB

 

WEARINESS AND STRUGGLE:

 

He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak.    Isaiah 40:29 TLB

My grace is all you need, for my power is strongest when you are weak.

Be strong---not in yourselves, but in the Lord, in the power of his boundless strength.  Ephesians 6:10 Phillips

I have strength for anything through him who gives me power.    Philippians 4:13 NEB

Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.    Matthew 11:28 NIV

Do you not know?  Have you not heard?  The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.  He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.    Isaiah 40:18-31 NIV

Do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you at that time; for it is not you who speaks, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.    Matthew 10:19-20 NRSV

Quietly trust yourself to Christ your Lord and if anybody asks you why you believe as you do, be ready to tell him, and do it in a gentle and respectful way.    1 Peter 3:15 TLB

Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9 RSV

Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.  1 Peter 5:7 TLB

Knowing God results in every other kind of understanding.  Proverbs 9:10 TLB

What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later.  For all creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day when God will resurrect his children...and the world around us will share in the glorious freedom from sin which God's children enjoy. Romans 8:18-21 TLB

Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith.  Take hold of eternal life.  1 Timothy 6:11 NIV

For I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love.  Death can't, and life can't.  The angels won't, and all of the powers of hell itself cannot keep God's love away... Romans 8:38 TLB

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.  Hebrews 11:1 NIV

...the Holy Spirit helps us with our daily problems and in our praying.  For we don't even know what we should pray for... Romans 8:26 TLB
